Wilson School Board Adds New Member

Bill Wallace, a teacher and one-time state senate candidate, joins Wilson Area School Board.

The Wilson Area School Board moved this week to fill a vacancy with a former state senate candidate and middle school art teacher from Williams Township.

Bill Wallace, 56, was interviewed before Monday’s board meeting.

Board members voted unanimously for Wallace to occupy the Williams Township spot left open by the unexpected August resignation of Lisa Tresslar.

Wallace, who ran unsuccessfully in 2010 as a Democrat against current state Sen. Bob Mensch, teaches art in the Pennridge School District in Upper Bucks.

He has been active in local Democratic politics for Bucks and Northampton County for years, but he said he relishes the chance to serve in the Wilson Area School District.

“To be involved in [school] would be a positive thing,” said Wallace. "I think right now education is vital. Understanding and being able to [help] public schools assert themselves and integrate themselves into their communities is vital to the success of our local communities."

Board President David Seiple wrote in an email that he was delighted to have Wallace on the board.

“He was the only applicant who applied, and fortunately for us, he is well qualified and a welcome addition,” wrote Seiple. “I thank him for stepping up and volunteering his time and talent."
