Pair Swiped Man's Wallet and Ripped His Pants, Police Say

Ryan Michael Dailey and Deziray Lynn Cunningham jailed on robbery charges, Easton police say.

Written by Jack Tobias

Two people have been charged with robbing an Easton man of $200 last month and ripping pants when they grabbed his wallet.

The victim told police that Ryan Michael Dailey, 25, of Easton, and Deziray Lynn Cunningham, 26, of Palmerton, showed up with a second man at an address on the 800 block of Lehigh Street on the afternoon of May 15, a Wednesday.

He told the visitors that he was working and that they had to leave, according to a criminal complaint filed by city Patrolman Phillip McGuigan.

Cunningham followed him upstairs, grabbed him and tried to take his wallet, the victim told police. As the victim struggled with Cunningham, Dailey came upstairs and pulled the wallet from the victim’s pocket, ripping his pants from the rear pocket past the knee.

The victim said $200 was taken from his wallet, which Dailey then threw on the ground. Dailey and Cunningham then ran out.

The complaint had no further information on the second man.

Police eventually identified Dailey and Cunningham, and arrest warrants for the pair were approved Friday (June 21). They were taken into custody Saturday.

Dailey, of 136 S. Eighth St., was charged with two counts of robbery – a level-three felony – and one count each of theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief.

Cunningham, of 307 Columbia Ave., Palmerton, was charged with two counts of robbery and one count of theft by unlawful taking or disposition.

They were arraigned Saturday by on-duty District Judge John Capobianco of Nazareth and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail for Dailey and $7,500 bail for Cunningham.
