'I Have Drugs in My Pocket': Dealer Calls 911, Police Say

Easton resident Shawn McAvoy jailed after turning himself in for allegedly selling drugs.

Easton police say a South Side teenager called 911 to turn himself in for selling marijuana.

Shawn McAvoy, 18, of the 500 block of Valley Street, is charged with possession or distribution of a small amount of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to police, McAvoy was charged Wednesday after he called 911 and said he wanted to turn himself in.

An officer met with McAvoy at the intersection of Cooper and Coal streets.

"I have the drugs in my left pocket," he allegedly told the officer. Sure enough, McAvoy was carrying six baggies of marijuana.

McAvoy was arraigned before District Judge Daniel Corpora and sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $1,000 bail.
