Former Lafayette Lacrosse Coach Killed in I-78 Crash

William Lawson, a former long-time Lafayette College lacrosse coach, was killed in a crash on Interstate 78 Saturday afternoon, according to published reports.

A 79-year-old Easton man was killed in a two-car crash Saturday afternoon on Interstate 78 in Hunterdon County, NJ., according to published reports.

Lehighvalleylive.com identified the person killed as William Lawson, a long-time former lacrosse coach at Lafayette College. Lawson coached at the college for 31 years, 1972 to 2002. 

According to a Morning Call report, Lawson was driving west in the center lane before 3 p.m. when his car veered off the road, hit a guardrail then spun back into the lanes of traffic. His car was hit by another vehicle. Both the driver and passenger of that vehicle were taken to a hospital.

Lawson was pronounced dead at Hunterdon Medical Center, according to the lehighvalleylive.com report.
