On the article Your Turn: Drinking at Lafayette

ReplyLafayette has a "Good Samaritan" policy. Why didn't Everett's friends call for help for him under that well published policy? They could have saved his life! Although I do not condone excessive drinking at any age, I am guessing that the level of importance of properly communicating procedures to the student community in this event is very low. Equate it with the problems encountered on the Costa Concordia last year. Prior to a cruise ship leaving port, it is supposed to be mandatory that all the people taking the cruise show up at a certain place on a certain deck for instructions, in case of an emergency. The Costa Concordia left port with intentions to have those instructions give the next day. Only hours after leaving port, it was too late. Only hours after leaving Everett, it was too late.

My mother is a beautiful lady. I tell her that often. She took care of me all of my growing up years. Although she had to work a full time job, I can't ever remember her NOT being there whenever I needed her to be. She taught me love and respect and honor without saying anything. She lived that way. She was the greatest listener and remembered more of what I told her than I did. I am blessed to have her with me now, as she recently turned 92. In the last couple of years she has become like my daughter. It is the toughest role to play (the reversal role) and I pale in comparison to the mother she has always been to me. She still is my best listener, but because of short term memory loss, she doesn't remember. I am blessed to still have her with me, and I love her more than words could ever express.

On the article Low Voter Turnout Reported Around Easton

ReplyIt would be interesting to know if any of the voters who showed up and did NOT want to show his or her ID was a Republican. We are willing to show ID for anything else - and the older folks all have to show ID for medical treatment! There was a Mr. Grumpy next to me at the poll yesterday morning who thought "it sucks" to have to show ID. I was appalled to read in the paper this morning that the people who refused to show ID were still allowed to vote! What!?! Doesn't anyone follow rules anymore? The pollsters who allowed that should be banned from manning the polls anymore. They are just as bad as the people who refused to show their IDs.

ReplyWhat is the matter with her? It's never too late to try to improve something, especially when it will save jobs and help the teams. If she thinks it's too late to be talking about "this," why didn't SHE suggest it earlier in the process? What a senseless comment to make!

ReplyI just want it to be known that I, as a co-worker and (I thought [!!]) friend of Kerry Myers, sent him an email when I learned that my son would be running for the seat he was vacating on the Easton School Board. I asked him for any direction or pointers he could give me to help my son in this campaign. Politics and party differences never entered my mind. I NEVER asked for his endorsement, and he NEVER responded to my email.

My sincerest condolences to the family. I know your loss is much deeper and greater than any newspaper story could relate.
