2-4 Inches of Snow Possible Wednesday

Forecast calls for snow Wednesday evening, following a day of snow and rain.

First, the impending storm was called a potential "atmospheric bomb" that could dump one to feet of snow on eastern Pennsylvania. Then forecasters said the storm would hit significantly south of the Lehigh Valley. Now, the storm track appears clearer and the National Weather Service says to expect "hazardous" weather Wednesday and Wednesday night in Easton. The forecast calls for 2-4 inches of snow Wenesday evening, after a day that will bring a mix of rain and snow to the city. During the day, we'll see less than an inch of snow, according to the NWS. If you need to travel west on Wednesday, you could run into even heavier snow. The forecast for western Lehigh County calls for 3-5 inches of snow. By the weekend, the weather should be more…

Winter Storm to Hit Easton Friday

National Weather Service issues winter storm warning for Friday and Saturday.

The National Weather Service says a winter storm will bring snow, ice, dangerous roads and possible power outages to Easton on Friday. The NWS has issued a winter storm warning for Easton and rest of Northampton County beginning Friday at 6 a.m. and ending Saturday at 6 a.m. The major impact will be in New England where a nor'easter-type storm could bring blizzard conditions and a foot of snow. Yet that doesn't let us off the hook, with the storm warning calling for 10 to 16 inches of snow, plus a trace of ice. That weather means "very hazardous travel" is expected Friday night, the NWS says.  Snow should develop Friday morning, then mix with or change to sleet and rain from southeast to northwest. Snow could be heavy at times later Friday…

Winter Storm Watch for Easton Friday

The work and school week will end with a wintry mix, and possibly some heavy snow, according to weather forecasters

Another winter storm is on the way and it could make for very messy travel on this weekend. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for later this week, saying a "potentially significant winter storm" could hit Northampton County Friday into Saturday. It's a much more serious forecast than what the NWS predicted earlier, when it called for a mix of sleet, freezing rain, rain and snow Thursday and Friday. The forecast still includes all those things. But a storm watch issued Wednesday afternoon says we could see 5 to 10 inches of snow, making travel difficult Friday into Saturday. Snow is expected to show up Friday morning, mix with rain and sleet, and then change to just snow later in the day on Friday.

White (and Wet) Christmas For Easton?

Snow, sleet and rain all in the forecast for the next three days.

We don't get too many white Christmases in this part of Pennsylvania, but this year might be one of them. Look for snow to fall Christmas morning, the National Weather Service says. And then look for it to be covered in sleet and freezing rain later in the day. The forecast for Easton has snow and rain falling today during the day, and then snow after 1 a.m. Christmas Day.  There's a slight chance of more snow on Christmas during the day, followed a possibility of sleet or freezing rain Tuesday night.  Whatever happens, stay safe on the roads the next few days.

Major Snowstorm Could Hit Eastern Pa. Next Week

Forecasters are keeping a close eye on computer models that show a big snowstorm could be headed to eastern Pennsylvania around Dec. 19-20

Update 11 a.m. Thursday: WFMZ reports a storm is looking increasingly likely for Tuesday-Wednesday but the big question is whether it will be rain or snow. The National Weather Service predicts a chance of rain/snow on Tuesday night. Original Story: It could be much more than a White Christmas if the Lehigh Valley gets one to two feet of snow next week. The Eastern Pa. Weather Authority says a potentially "monstrous" storm is showing up on a European weather model, according to the following post on the group's Facebook page: Update on next week's storm potential.... this is as monstrous of a storm you can get just about, as modeled on today's 12z European model run. This would be, if correct, a "KU" storm... or one for the history books. …
