The Bethlehem Parking Authority and ParkNow are offering free Saturday parking from November 24 through December 22 if you use this mobile app. What’s mobile parking? Call: Call the local pay by cell phone number with your cell phone which is listed on the meter sticker or nearby sign. App: Get the ParkNOW app on your smartphone. Text: Use a text message to stop/start your parking sessions. Just text the command Park followed by the location (city) and space number to 32075. Online: A personal account will be created for you when you register at www.goparknow.com. Easton, meanwhile will offer free parking a meters in the city's downtown on Saturdays during the holidays, beginning today through December 29.

Northampton Street boutique gets a boost from monthly cash mob.
Downtown doesn't have the type of stores where people line up on the morning after Thanksgiving. But for The iMiJ Shop on Northampton Street, yesterday was sort of like a mini-Black Friday, one week early. The gallery/boutique/photo studio found itself hosting Easton's eighth "cash mob" Friday afternoon. Every month, the Easton Main Street Initiative organizes the cash mob to help boost a Downtown business. The group meets in Centre Square, and then heads to that store with the goal of spending at least $20. The visits are unannounced, and iMiJ Shop co-owner Mike Cabreza said he was surprised to find a group of 10 people -- some holding balloons and "Cash Mob" placards -- squeeze through his doors. The Boscov's department store chain - which has stores at Lehigh Valley Mall and Palmer Park Mall - will stop selling major appliances and TVs to make more room for furniture, according to multiple reports. The stores will begin selling off major appliances and televisions at discounts of 30 percent or more. Large appliances including washers, dryers, refrigerators and stoves will be phased out; stores will continue to stock small appliances. Store Vice Chairman Jim Boscov told the Citizens Voice that there has been an increase in the company's furniture sales -- and from hearing customer feedback, he said he thinks that this is a department that needs more space in stores.
