Easton Man Shot After Being Robbed in Wilson

Police say a man was robbed, assaulted and shot in Wilson Borough on Friday night

Police are searching for the gunman who shot Daniel Matlock Jr., 27, of the 700 block of Wolfe Avenue, Easton in an alley at Northampton and 15th streets in Wilson Borough, Northampton County around 10:30 p.m. Friday, according to reports by WFMZ and Lehigh Valley Live Matlock was shot in the back after four black men assaulted and robbed him, WFMZ reports. Matlock was treated at a hospital for injuries that were not life threatening and police say the crime may have been drug related.

An Easton man was shot and wounded early Saturday after an argument in Wilson, and police are searching for the suspected gunman. Police say the incident began around 2:45 a.m. when officers noticied a group of people gathered at the Exxon Station at 15th and Northampton streets for what appeared to be a fight. The group broke up when police arrived. Officers later came upon two men fighting at 15th and Liberty streets. One of the men ran away, while the other told police his name was Jesus Jackson, 20, of Easton's South Side. Fifteen minutes later, police heard gunshots and found Jackson bleeding on the ground. He ran from the scene, but returned about an hour later, with gunshot wounds to his left arm and left abdomen, police said. …

Easton Police Find Drugs During Gunfire Case

Police discovered evidence of marijuana sales at scene of South Side investigation.

Easton police say investigators discovered evidence of marijuana sales when responding to reports of gun shots on the South Side Monday. According to the Express-Times, police searched 337 W. Berwick St. after the call came in, and found marijuana, a scale, and packaging material. The report says police are looking for links between the house and the gun shots. The shooting happened around 3 a.m. No injuries were reported, and police discovered no property damage. Investigators found evidence that the suspect had fired six shots. Police are looking for a man who had been seen in the area before the shooting. He's black, 6-foot-1, thin, and was wearing dark pants and a white T-shirt. Philadelphia Sikh Society Reacts to Wisconsin Shooting

After a deadly shooting at a Wisconsin Sikh Temple Sunday morning, the greater Philadelphia Sikh community calls for more gun control and cultural understanding.

This weekend, over 2,000 members of the Sikh community from the Philadelphia area and beyond came to Monsignor Bonner High School in Drexel Hill to participate in the Philadelphia Sikh Society’s (PSS) 12th annual Sikh Games of Philadelphia. According to Narinder Singh, secretary of the PSS, which is located in Millbourne, Delaware County, the festive two-day event draws members of the Sikh community from as far away as New York and Maryland. The Aug. 5 event at Bonner had participants of all ages playing volleyball, soccer, wrestling, races and the traditional "Kabbaddee," a tag-game similar to Jailbreak. President Obama, Mitt Romney Remember Victims of Aurora Shooting

"They had hopes for the future and dreams that were not yet fulfilled, and if there’s anything to take away from this tragedy, it’s a reminder that life is fragile."

President Barack Obama dedicated his weekly address to remembering the tragedy of the shooting in Aurora, Colo., at a midnight showing of the new Batman movie, "The Dark Knight Rises." "While we will never know fully what causes someone to take the life of another, we do know what makes that life worth living," Obama said. See our video above for the president's full remarks.   Presidential candidate Mitt Romney also issued a statement in response to the incident. Easton Shooting Leads to Valley-Wide Chase

Police say a man fired shots in Easton, then led them on a chase to Whitehall.

A late night shooting in Easton's West Ward Sunday led police on a chase that ended when the suspect crashed his car in Whitehall, according to city police. Police say officers were called to 14th and Washington streets around 10:09 p.m. Sunday for a report of shots fired. According to a police news release, investigators sent other local departments a description of a car that was apparently involved in the shooting. Palmer police spotted the car, police say, and chased it along Route 22 with the help of state police. The chase ended when the car crashed on the Fullerton Avenue exit in Whitehall Township. State Trooper Accidentally Shot

A trooper at the Belfast state police barracks accidentally discharged his gun and shot himself in the leg Thursday afternoon, police said.

A Pennsylvania state trooper at the Belfast barracks in Northampton County accidentally discharged his gun and shot himself in the leg Thursday afternoon.  He was taken to St. Luke's in Fountain Hill and is reported to be in stable condition as of 6 p.m. A spokesperson for the state police said the trooper's injuries are not life threatening. While she would not directly confirm the trooper accidentally shot himself, police spokeswoman Maria Finn did say there were no other people involved in the discharge of the weapon. She added police are not considering it a criminal incident. She additionally stated that there is no danger to the public, and an internal investigation is pending.

Easton Police: Shooting Was Suicide Attempt

Easton police say a man found shot in the head Sunday tried to commit suicide.

Easton police say a man found in the street early Sunday morning with a gunshot wound had attempted to kill himself. According to the Express-Times, a police investigation and interviews with the man's family determined the 22-year-old, who was not identified, had tried to commit suicide.  The man was found just after midnight Sunday at the 900 block of Elm Street near S. 10th Street.

Man Shot in Easton's West Ward

Police say victim shot in head just after midnight Sunday.

A man was shot in the head in Easton's West Ward just after midnight on New Year's Day, according to news reports. City police say the victim, a 22-year-old Easton man, was found in the street near 10th and Elm streets at around 12:03 a.m., the Morning Call reports. According to the Express-Times, the man was hospitalized, and was in critical condition. Police told the newspaper they do not believe the shooting was the result of celebratory New Year's Eve gunfire. Police ask anyone with information about the shooting to contact Det.
