Easton Man Charged in King Mart Burglary

Police catch man trying to break into South Side convenience store.

Easton police say a South Side man was caught trying to break into a neighborhood convenience store early Saturday. Deon Robinson, 21, of 167 W. Nesquehoning St., is charged with criminal mischief, attempted burglary and public drunkenness.  According to police, officers responded to a report of a man trying to break into the King Mart at 154 W. St. Joseph St.  When officers arrived, they found Robinson had smashed the window of the store. He was arrested, arraigned and sent to Northampton County Prison.

Police Release Photo in Bicycle Robbery

Surveillance picture shows man suspected of robbing the King Mart last month, and then fleeing on a bicycle.

Easton police have released a surveillance photo of a man they say robbed a South Side corner store last month, and then fled on a bicycle. The robbery happened on the night of October 23, with a man walking into the King Mart on W. St. Joseph Street and threatening a worker with a black handgun. Police said the robber got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and some Newport cigarettes, and then drove away from the store on a bike.
