Brother of Easton judge had been missing since April; family said last month that body found was likely his.
Late last month, the family of Jonathan Elwell issued a statement saying they were more or less certain that a body found in Iowa was his. Now, police in Iowa have made it certain. According to a news release from June 29, the Iowa Department of Public Safety say Elwell's dental records matched those of a body found in Crawford County, Iowa on June 19. Elwell, brother of Easton District Judge Gay Elwell had gone missing Apri 17 l after leaving his home in Shillington, Berks County. His rental car was found abanonded in Iowa a few days later. "At this time, foul play is not suspected," police said in a news release.

A body found in Iowa Tuesday is that of missing Pennsylvania resident Jonathan Elwell, his family said Thursday. Elwell, whose sister is Easton District Judge Gay Elwell, was last seen at his home in Berks County April 17. The family said they've been told that remains found in Iowa are Jonathan Elwell's, pending final confirmation of dental records. "The recovery of his body has ended the search that began two months ago when his rental car was found abandoned," the family said in a statement. Two months after his disappearance, authorities in Iowa are investigating whether a body found Tuesday is Jonathan Elwell.
It's been two months since anyone saw Jonathan Elwell, brother of Easton District Judge Gay Elwell. Now, authorities in Iowa are investigating whether a body found there on Tuesday is that of the Pennsylvania man last seen April 17. According to the Omaha World-Herald, railroad workers discovered a body along train tracks in Crawford County, Iowa between the towns of Vail and Westside. The newspaper notes that the site was about two miles from where Elwell's rented car was discovered April 20, but police would not say whether the body was Elwell. Jonathan Elwell went missing in Iowa last month.
Police in Iowa are continuing their search for Jonathan Elwell, the younger brother of Easton District Judge Gay Elwell. The Berks County man was last seen at his home in the borough of Shillington on April 17. Three days later, his car was found in western Iowa. Cadaver dogs searched for Elwell over the weekend but found nothing, his sister Joy Rank told the Montgomery News Monday. "It's like he just fell off the face of the earth," she said. Jonathan Elwell, a Berks County man and brother to Easton District Judge Gay Elwell, has been missing since April 17, according to police.
