Philadelphia Funk Authority Concert Canceled

The Philadelphia Funk Authority Concert slated for tonight has been canceled due to threat of severe weather.

The Philadelphia Funk Authority was scheduled to play a free concert at Riverside Park in Easton 7:30-9:30 p.m. tonight but the performance has been canceled because of predicted bad weather.  Megan McBride of the Greater Easton Development Partnership announced the cancelation this afternoon. She gave no alternate date. The band specializes in soul, R&B, funk, dance and party music from the last 40 years.

Too bad there isn't an indoor back-up site for these concerts, in event of inclement weather -- for instance, Nurture Nature Center or a High School auditorium or gym. I hope there will be a makeup date for the Philadelphia Funk concert!   more ›

Easton City Council Passes 2012 Budget

Next year's city budget keeps taxes and fees in Easton at the same rates as 2011.

Easton City Council members unanimously passed the 2012 city budget Wednesday evening. The $28.8 million document calls for the same tax and fee structure as in 2011. Though the bottom line is essentially the same, a few notable line items include: Additionally Wednesday evening, the council passed a resolution directing the management of the city's fund balance. The resolution is desirable to municipal lenders, said city administrator Glenn Steckman and finance director Chris Hegele. Council members debated the resolution at their workshop meeting previously on Tuesday, ultimately making minor changes to the proposed ordinance, most notably substituting “should” for “shall” in places. Easton Parking Plans Under Review

Public meeting tonight will discuss future

The Easton Parking Authority and City of Easton will host its first public meeting on the Downtown and Courthouse Area Parking Study tonight. The meeting takes place at 7:30 p.m. on the 6th floor of City Hall, 1 South Third Street. Consultant Desman Associates will facilitate the informational session. "This is a critical issue for the future planning and development of the city," said Becky A. Bradley, Easton's director of planning and codes. The parking authority in August hired Desman Associates to study future parking needs Downtown and in the neighborhood around the Northampton County Courthouse.  Desman is expected to complete the study by year’s end. Easton Has More Than 4,600 Rentals

City inspector is tracking down properties not properly licensed as rentals

The city of Easton has more than 4,600 rental properties and a program to inspect them all is entering its fifth year, according to this Express-Times report. Landlords who do not pay a $45 fee for every rental they own can be cited and fined. August 15 was the deadline for rental license applications. The fee now rises to $75 until September 15. After that, the fee jumps to $105. The city's rental inspector is tracking down properties that are not registered including single-family homes now being rented out by the owner.

Milton, it's not only the Rock Church property, but also the Armory and many others, where those owners truly don't care. Rock Church needs to sort out its own issues with the property, but "other Christians in our area" would do well to reach out to Rock Church to find out what's truly going on.
