Students at Wilson school show off science experiments for Catholic Schools Week.

This week is Catholic Schools Week. At St. Jane Frances de Chantal School in Wilson, that meant a lot of special activities, including the sixth grade's science fair. On Wednesday morning, dozens of sixth-graders showed their classmates and parents the results of their experiments, which included using human hair to measure humidity, seeing how much salt would need to be added to water to make an egg float, and using balloons to study static electricity.

5 Things to Know Today, Jan. 28

The Easton Area School Board meets, Catholic Schools Week begins, and more...

Good morning everyone. As I write this, the forecast is calling for snow, sleet and freezing rain today, so be careful out there. Monday is here, so let's look at what's happening this week. 1. The Easton Area School Board meets Tuesday evening. On the agenda: a vote on whether to add more math and science to the high school curriculum. 2. It's Catholic Schools Week, and St. Jane Frances de Chantal School in Wilson is holding an open house Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and again from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. (This had been scheduled for today, but postponed due to Monday's weather.) 3. And speaking of open houses, the Nurture Nature Center is holding one as well, Wednesday morning at 10. 4. Have you liked us on Facebook? Come check us out. …
