Family Finds Burglar In Kitchen, Police Say

A South Side man entered the home of a family of seven around 4 a.m. Sunday and briefly got away with a television worth $319, cash and loose change totaling $7.19 and some food items, Easton police say. Terique E. Grayman, 23, was spotted a short time later about a block from the home and was identified by one of the residents, court records say. A criminal complaint filed by city Patrolman Benjamin Mastrofilippo said a woman on the 300 block of Palmer Street came downstairs and saw a man in the kitchen. He was wearing a black shirt, light jeans and a gray hat. A man who later identified Grayman said he too came downstairs and chased Grayman east on the 200 block of W. Williams Street before he changed direction and ran south toward Davis…

Police: DNA Connects Man to Easton Burglary

DNA found on a rock was used to link a man to a 2011 burglary at the Shammy Shine Car Wash, Easton police say.

On Jan. 4, 2011, a burglary was reported at the Shammy Shine Car Wash in Easton in which the perpetrator broke a window to get in and stole $250, Easton Police said. Police said they recovered DNA from the rock that was used to break in and connected it to Michael Carthens, who was already in state prison on other charges. Officers arrested Carthens when he arrived at District Court on Wednesday related to another charge.  Carthens was charged with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief and committed to prison in lieu of $50,000 bail. Carthens had been arrested in the past several months on other burglary charges in Easton around the time of car wash burglary, police said.

Easton Police: Woman Woke Up to Burglar

Investigation of a June burglary in Easton resulted in charges against a man already incarcerated on burglary charges from incidents in Wilson Borough.

An Easton woman woke up in the early morning hours of June 13 to find a burglar in her apartment attempting to steal her television, city police said. The burglar fled when she confronted him but police now say they know who he was.  About 3 a.m. June 13, the resident at the second-floor apartment at 1127 Butler St. awoke to find a stranger trying to take her TV. He took off when she confronted him, police said.   An investigation determined that the alleged burglar was Alexander Brito, 43, according to police. Brito was arraigned on charges of burglary, theft and receiving stolen property today by District Judge Richard H. Yetter and returned to Northampton County Prison, where he is incarcerated on several other burglary charges stemming…

Police Search for Armed Suspects

Easton police issue warrant for city man in incident in which a gun was allegedly pointed at the victim.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of an Easton man who faces assault and terroristic threats charges after police were called Sunday to a report of a burglary in progress. City police said they responded to a report of a burglary in progress at 1011 Northampton Street at 9:47 p.m. Sunday and the burglars were allegedly armed.  The 39-year-old victim reportedly escaped unharmed. Officers searched the area but couldn't locate the armed burglars. One of the suspects was identified as Humberto Lopez, 22, with a last known address of 1011 Northampton Street -- he is believed to be a recent roomate of the victim, police said.  During the incident, he was accompanied by two males and one of those males allegedly pointed a rifle at the victim, …

Easton Police Seek Jewel Thieves

Police have released a surveillance photo of one of the men they say robbed Easton's JC Jewelry in November.

Easton police are looking for two men they say burgarlized a downtown jewelry store in November. Police released a surveillance photo Wednesday taken at JC Jewelry at 101 Northampton St. on Nov. 25, the day of the burglary. They say a second man also was involved in the theft.  According to police, numerous watches and other pieces of jewelry were taken. Anyone who can identify the man in the surveillance photo, or has any other information, can call Det. Joseph Alonzo at 610-250-6780.
