Enter The Nature Nook and you'll see pale orange corn snakes wriggle vigorously while their more tranquil cousins are content to coil and bask. A stunning white Indian dove mingles its distinctive song with the soothing music on the shop's sound system.

The Nature Nook has been in business for 16 years. Customers will find a range of reptiles and amphibians including palm-sized turtles and thumb-sized frogs. Birds are also sold here. The store carries some species that are bred mostly in captivity. The owner, an area native, breeds turtles and has had a lifelong love of creeping creatures.

The exotic pet store occupies a former Police Athletic League building in which world champion boxer Larry Holmes, who grew up in Easton, is said to have fought his first match as an 8-year-old.
