Easton Digs Out From 'Hercules'

People in Easton began digging out Friday morning from this winter's first big snowfall, a storm that closed city schools, delayed sporting events and shut down local businesses.

Residents reported 5-7 inches of snow in their backyards from Winter Storm Hercules, and either cleared or unplowed roads depending on where they lived.

"Absolutely beautiful fluffy snow! Sidewalks and roads clear," reader Bonnie Winfield wrote on the Easton Patch Facebook page. "Public Workers busy - many thanks to them!"

Readers in Palmer and Williams townships, however, reported they were still waiting on plows.

Easton's snow emergency was expected to remain in effect until 5 p.m. Friday evening.

The city's snow clearing ordinance gives residents "eight working hours" after snow stops falling to get their sidewalks clear.
