Celebrate Bastille Day This Weekend in Easton

A look at what's happening around Easton this week.

Bastille Day is a French holiday—celebrated January 14—marking the beginning of that country's revolution.

You can celebrate it this weekend in Easton at the French-flavored restaurant Maxim's 22, which has events planned Saturday and Sunday.

There's French wine, food and cocktails, plus all-you-can-eat oysters on the menu all weekend. There's a frog leg eating competition Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. You can also hear some music: the Lelica Trio featuring Doug Hawk and BD Lenz Saturday at 8 p.m., and "French gypsy jazz" from the Musette Project Sunday from noon to 3 p.m.

Also this weekend:

  • The Easton Municipal Band plays one of two summer concerts scheduled in the city at 7:30 p.m.
  • After that, the Movies in the Park program presents the musical Mamma Mia! (featuring Lehigh Valley native Amanda Seyfried) at 9 p.m., also in Scott Park.
  • ConneXions Gallery holds an opening reception for artist Tom D'Angelo's "Three Dots" show, Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., featuring the music of Three Old Guys in the Corner.
  • Saxophonist Dave Koz plays at the State Theatre Saturday night at 7:30.
  • It's jazz night Saturday at the Lafayette Bar, with Doug Hirlinger's Re-Up taking the stage at 9:30 p.m.
  • Valenca hosts another of its outdoor music nights, featuring an oldies DJ Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • The Easton Farmers Market is open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Centre Square.
