Holzberger Steps Down From School Board

Resignation leaves seven seats up for grabs.

Yet another Easton Area School Board member is leaving before her term is up.

Jennifer Holzberger, a Forks Township resident who was elected in 2009 to represent the board's District III, will resign from the board effective July 31.

In a letter posted on the district website, Holzberger says she's leaving due to her husband's "professional obligations overseas."

Holzberger is the second school board member this year to step down. , who also represents District III, resigned last month. The board is expected to appoint her replacement Thursday.

With the two resignations and this fall's general election, the board will look drastically different this time next year.

The school board's District I is currently represented by Pat Fisher, Millie Mandarino and Jodi Hess. Fisher chose not to seek re-election this year, and Mandarino and Hess both lost in the May primary, leaving the door open for the three newcomers William Rider, Bob Arnts and Richard Fehnel.

In District II, one of two newcomers -- either Democrat Frank Pintabone or Republican Ronnie DelBacco -- next year. They each won their party's primary, and face each other in November.

There's a race in District III as well -- between incumbent Kerri Leonard Ellison and newcomer Frank Castrovinci.
