Freddy Awards Announce 2012 Schedule

Here are the local schools and plays that will be in competition for the 2012 Freddys.

The have announced which high school plays will be in competition this year.

Locally, , Wilson Area, Phillipsburg and Notre Dame high schools are all in the running.

Easton will be performing Damn Yankees -- the story of a baseball fan who sells his soul for a chance to play the game -- on March 2 at 7 p.m., March 3 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and March 4 at 2 p.m.

At , students will put on Beauty and the Beast, a stage adaptation of the Disney cartoon, the week after Easton. Those shows are scheduled for March 9 at 8 p.m., March 10 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., and March 11 at 3 p.m.

Phillipsburg's offering is Legally Blonde, based on the Reese Witherspoon romantic comedy. The curtain goes up April 20 at 7:30 p.m. and again on April 21 at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Students at will perform Little Women, a musical version of the Louisa May Alcott novel, April 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m., and April 21 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The Freddy Awards will be held May 24 at . The theatre says there's a record 30 schools competing this year, the 10th year for the awards.
