Easton School Board Will Sell Old School

The Easton Area School Board has voted to sell the , which served as the district's administration building for several years.

According to the Express-Times, the district put a condition on the sale: the buyer needs to show plans to "promptly restore and develop the property for productive use."

Last week, members of the community went before the board asking them sell the building to a "responsible" developer, out of fear that the building  -- at 811 Northampton St. -- would just sit and become blighted if sold to a speculator.

Architect Steven Glickman presented a plan that showed the building could be turned into offices, apartments, classrooms, or a mix of all three.
