In a surprise move, the Easton Area School Board held off adopting the 2011-12 budget at a special board meeting Thursday evening scheduled specifically to approve it.
The board agreed unanimously to table the matter when members Kerri Leonard-Ellison and Jennifer Holzberger asked for further clarification on several line items in the .
Leonard-Ellison said she was unclear about the listing of expenses and discrepancies between the and elementary schools.

“Are we truly cutting from everywhere, or just from the elementary schools?” she asked.
Business manager Marie Guidry said she would provide the clarifications at the board's next meeting on Thursday, June 23.

The board will be required to adopt it then, said EASD school board president Kerry Myers, as the state deadline is June 30.
And in other news, the board approved the granting of a honorary Easton Area High School diploma to former heavyweight champion and Easton native Larry Holmes.
Holmes attended school in the district until financial constraints forced him to drop out in the 7th grade, Myers said.
Holmes will receive the diploma and a copy of the resolution granting it at the high school's graduation at Stabler Arena on June 22.
