Will John Morganelli Run For Lieutenant Governor?

Northampton County DA writes seeking donations for run for state office.

Is Northampton County's district attorney planning another run for state office?

John Morganelli ran twice for attorney general in 2000 and 2008, and now seems to be looking at a bid for lieutenant governor next year, according to published reports.

PolticsPA reported last week that Morganelli, a Democrat in his 21st year in office, had sent an e-mail to friends asking for donations for a possible campaign.

“I am considering seeking the democratic nomination for Lt. Governor of Pennsylvania in 2014,” he wrote in a message obtained by the website. “I have not made a formal announcement, and my decision will be based upon whether I can raise the necessary funds to compete on a statewide basis.”

And the Express-Times notes that Morganelli has begun to look for volunteers to collect signatures for next year's primary, but has downplayed his interest in a campaign.
