Krill, a Republican and city firefighter, has campaigned on the idea that Panto -- and previous mayors -- have and not enough on its other neighborhoods.

"It's simply summed up in two words—residents first. Not tourists, not Lafayette College, but residents,” Krill said in a debate with Panto last month. "They've put up with a lot, and it's time to put them first...Leadership needs to seek out residents and sit down with them to build consensus and solutions from the ground up, not the top down."

Panto, a Democrat who served as mayor in the 1980s, is running on his record. He points to Easton's property tax rate, unchanged after four years, , and safer streets.

"Four years ago, the city was on the verge of bankruptcy, but now it's a role model," Panto said in the same debate.

School Board Candidates

There are candidates running in all three regions of the Easton Area School Board, but one of those races --

In Region Two, which includes Easton's 2nd, 4th and 5th, and 9th-12th wards -- along with the borough of Riegelsville -- is facing in a race to fill a seat left vacant by Kerry Myers, who's stepping down at the end of the year.

Pintabone is stressing fiscal responsibility on the board, a more diverse staff in the district, and a focus on education over athletics.

DelBacco has campaigned on the need to improve curriculum in the district and cut wasteful spending. You can also check out DelBacco's Facebook page here, or check out Pintabone's website.

In Region III -- which includes Easton's 3rd and 6th-8th wards, part of Lower Mount Bethel, and Forks Township -- there are two separate races.

In one of them, two candidates are seeking one four year seat: incumbent Kerri-Leonard Ellison of Forks Township, and challenger Cathy McIntyre, an independent.

The second race features four candidates seeking two open two-year seats. Two of them -- and -- are already serving on the board, having been appointed earlier this year to fill in for departing members Sarah Billoitti and Jennifer Holzberger.

Joining them in the race are Republican Paul Glovas and Democrat Janet Matthews.

County races

On the countywide ballot, Republican Northampton County Councilman is facing a challenge from Robert Werner, a Democrat.

There's also a race for county controller: Steve Barron, the man who's held the job since 2008, is being challenged by Steve Salvesen, a Hanover Township supervisor.

And lastly, voters will be asked if they want to retain county judge Edward Smith.

Like I said above, a lot of choices. But the most important one is the choice itself to vote. I know it's not a presidential election, but that doesn't mean you should stay home.
