Vanderburg Announces School Re-Election Bid

Baron Vanderburg, the youngest member of the Easton Area School Board, is seeking re-election.

Vanderburg joined the board about seven months ago fresh out of college. At that time, he was 21 and was chosen among six candidates to fill a seat vacated by Bob Arnts, who resigned for health reasons.

"Approximately 7 months ago, I took a chance at serving my community by seeking a vacated seat on the Easton Area School Board," Vanderburg said in a press release announcing his re-election plans. "I had no idea what to expect or how I would be received, but one thought was clear: I want to do whatever I can to promote and protect the Easton Area."

Vanderburg graduated from Easton Area High School in 2008 and East Stroudsburg University last year.

Upon appointment, Vanderburg said he took a vow to be an active participant and one of nine "cheerleaders" for the Easton Area School District.

He touted that over the last few months, the board has had some great accomplishments, like approving the KOZ (Keystone Opportunity Zone), which has the potential to bring in substantial revenue to the district.
