No Primary Battles in City Council Race

Anyone looking for a race for Easton City Council will have to wait until November.

Four candidates are seeking three seats on council in this year's election. Two of them are incumbents—Sandra Vulcano of the South Side and College Hill's Roger Ruggles—who appear to be unopposed.

Both Vulcano and Ruggles are Democrats. Ruggles had been a Republican when he was elected in 2009, but has recently switched parties, meaning the current council is made entirely of Democrats.

The other two candidates are newcomers both seeking the West Ward seat that will be left vacant by Councilman Michael Fleck: Kim Yedlosky* and Jim Eddinger.

But because Eddinger is a Democrat and Yedlosky is a Republican, they have no opposition until the fall election.

Fleck announced earlier this year he would step down at the end of his term in order to devote more time to his family and to his political consulting firm.
