Meetings Ask "What Should Easton Be?"

Envision Lehigh Valley meetings hope to get Easton perspectives on local economy, housing, and more...

"Easton is..."

"Easton is not..."

"Easton should be..."

The group Envision Lehigh Valley, along with Easton's planning department, is trying to get residents to fill in those blanks at a series of public forums.

About 30 people turned out for one of those events Monday night at St. John's Lutheran Church to discuss the city's economy, housing and transportation.

They broke into discussion groups and also heard from Envision Lehigh Valley's Holly Edinger and Easton planning director Becky Bradley.

Future Envision Lehigh Valley meetings for Easton are scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. at Greater Shiloh Church, and Jan. 17 at 6 p.m. at College Hill Presbyterian Church.

On a related note, the Strong Town Tour will be in Easton tonight, scheduled for Room 224 of Lafayette College's Oechsle Hall at 6 p.m. The tour's "curbside chat" series aims at getting communities to look for ways to surivive the economic crisis in a sustainable fashion.
