Meet Easton School Board Candidate Robert Obey

Corrections officer wants to represent EASD's Region II.

Tell us about your educational background:1989 graduate of Burrell High School Lower Burrell PA; Attended classes for Criminal Justice at Hudson Valley Community College Albany NY

Tell us about your professional/business background: NY State Corrections Officer at Sing Sing Correctional Facility 

Why are you running for the Easton Area School Board?

I'm running for Easton School Director :1.) because I am a concerned parent and tax payer of the City of Easton.
2.) I want to see the students of Easton Area School District obtain academic excellence and the best programs available to them so if they choose to come back to this great City of Easton they will be productive Eastonians or if they choose to live somewhere else great citizens abroad the US and beyond.

What qualifies you to serve on the board?

1.) I'm fiscally responsible. 2.) I'm involved with the youth of the City of Easton.

3.) My greatest desire is too see that the students get the best education and the tax payers get the best for their tax dollars.

Tell us about three major challenges facing the district and how you would address them. (Please be as specific as possible):

To make sure that the students achieve academic excellence. And the tax payers dollars are put to good use.
1.) budgetary issues. I will bring creative ways to the table that the district can consider that will balance the budget.
2.) A pattern of low testing scores in the High School. I will insist that new testing procedures be implicated that will get different academic results.
3.) Safety and security of schools. I will bring my twenty plus years of safety and security and law enforcement experience to the School Board to insure that our district has the safest and securest schools in the nation.

How much are you spending to run? How is your campaign being funded?

I am spending $641.75 on advertising and it is funded by myself.

My Father in law , Albert Humphrey who served on the Easton Area School Board from 1985 to 1993
