Man Sues Easton Police Over Drug Raid

Julius Lockhart says Easton police violated his civil rights, put his daughter in danger.

An Easton man is suing the city, its police chief and two officers over a drug raid at his home in 2009, according to published reports.

Julius Lockhart claims the police raid at his South Side home in September 2009 violated his civil rights and endangered his daughter.

According to the Morning Call, Lockhart's suit says the raid drove away clients at his business, and put his daughter -- who was 9 at the time -- in danger when officers shattered a glass door during the raid.

The suit claims Lockhart's daughter still suffers from "nightmares, post traumatic stress, fear of the dark, loud noises and police officers." The raid at 329 Folk St. turned up drug paraphernalia, and Lockhart pleaded guilty.

Easton Mayor Sal Panto told the Express-Times the suit was frivolous, and that the city would settle it without paying.

According to the Express-Times, Lockhart claims began harassing him in 2009 after he helped his mother sue the city after her car was wrongfully seized and damaged.
