Easton Union Workers Get New 5-Year Contract
AFSCME employees will get 2-3 percent raises over the next few years.
Easton's municipal union workers have a new contract.
City Council voted Wednesday night to approve a new five-year contract with members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
A few union members attended the meeting, wearing "Easton Works Because We Do" sweatshirts.
City Administrator Glenn Steckman praised AFSCME's members for the way they handled negotiations.
"It really was a productive and positive discussion on the contract," he said.
The contract gives the employees raises over the next five years -- 2 percent for this year, 2.5 percent next year, and 3 percent in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
