Easton Says Sigal Museum Can Advertise

City zoners allow Easton's Sigal Museum to put up sign explaining what it does.

Easton's Sigal Museum has been in business for , and the people running it want the public to have a better idea about what it does.

To that end, the local history museum got permission Monday night from the city Zoning Hearing Board to hang a big banner explaining to visitors what they'll find inside.

"Within the street, people don’t know what it is," director Barbara Kowitz told the board.

The hope is that the nearly 100-square-foot banner -- reading "History is Here" -- will remedy that.

Kowitz noted that this is an advertisting method used by many other museums, "who will hang much larger signage."

Board Chairman James Eddinger noted that he had seen a smaller sign on the museum earlier in the day.

"If I didn’t see that, I wouldn't be able to identify the building," Eddinger said.
