Easton Parking Plans Under Review

Public meeting tonight will discuss future

The and City of Easton will host its first public meeting on the Downtown and Courthouse Area Parking Study tonight.

The meeting takes place at 7:30 p.m. on the 6th floor of City Hall, 1 South Third Street. Consultant Desman Associates will facilitate the informational session.

"This is a critical issue for the future planning and development of the city," said Becky A. Bradley, Easton's director of planning and codes.

The parking authority in August hired Desman Associates to study future parking needs Downtown and in the neighborhood around the

Desman is expected to complete the study by year’s end.

Desman will review current parking supply and demand, analyze future development, analyze the future of the Pine Street parking deck and develop financial projections and expected use of the South Third Street parking deck and bus depot.

 The city and parking authority are partnering to build the intermodal facility where the vacant Marquis Theatre and Perkins restaurant now stand. 

A three-story commercial space housing offices for local and regional bus lines and a proposed National High School Sports Hall of Fame will front South Third Street. 

 The three-story, 357-space parking deck and eight-bay bus terminal will be at the back of the property.

Tuesday’s meeting is meant for the general public to learn about the study’s process and scope and to comment on parking issues.
