Easton Home Can Expand, Zoning Board Says

Easton Zoning Hearing Board gives its OK to senior housing expansion.

Easton Home can expand its operation in the West Ward, the city's Zoning Hearing Board has ruled.

That's according to the Morning Call, which says the board made an unanimous decision on the expansion Monday night.

Easton Home, owned by Presbyterian Senior Living, wants to put up a new four-story building on its Northampton Street property. The plan calls for a new a 52-unit facility for people 62 and over.

Officials at the center have said these would be residents able to live on their own yet who would still be close enough to access the Easton Home's healthcare services if needed.

The board's decision this week reverses a vote from February in which the board denied the expansion. At the time, board members had called it "out of scale to the neighborhood," while neighbors expressed similar concerns.
