Dale and Georgia Will Return Downtown

Biscuits and treats for canines will be manufactured on the premises.

Easton canines and their humans will be happy to hear that , the pet boutique located on Northampton Street until earlier this year, plans to return to the Downtown in about a month.

Winning unanimous approval from Easton's Planning Commission Wednesday evening for a special exception for food processing to manufacture dog biscuits on the premises of the shop's proposed new location at 40 North Third St., owner Jane Nordell said the manufacturing end of her business will be identical to the operation at her former establishment.

The retail end of the business will be somewhat scaled back from the former location, Nordell said, estimating that 70 percent of her transactions will be wholesale, and the remaining 30 percent to be retail.

"I don't need that much space to sell the 15 things I sold all the time,"she said.

Since closing the Northampton Street location, Nordell has concentrated on selling her brand of healthy dog biscuits online, she said, adding that she could turn out as many as 100 cases of the product per month at the new location. Should the business wish to expand beyond that, a manufacturer would be contracted to produce the biscuits off-site, she testified.

While the plan still needs to be approved by the zoning hearing board later this month, no obstacles are foreseen, and if all goes well, Nordell says she hopes to have Dale and Georgia's retail location open for business by early October.
