City Council's New Chambers Nearly Finished
City council meetings could be held in the new chambers by the end of July.
A sneak peek at the city council's new chambers Tuesday revealed the space is nearly complete, lacking only a few final details.
Work is expected to be finished by mid-July, said Mayor Sal Panto, and the space could be in everyday use by the end of that month.
In addition to the meeting space, the area will include offices for the city clerk and assistant clerk, as well as city council members.

City council meetings have been held in the mayor's conference room while the new space was planned, bid and construction has been taking place.
The old city council chambers were eliminated when the city decided to rent the fifth floor of the Alpha Building to a private company, where the council was formerly located, for the revenue it could bring the city.
