Easton's new congressman says he's setting up an office in the city.
U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright will open an office at 436 Northampton Street, his office said in a news release.
He'll operate out of an office on the 9th floor of Easton city hall until the renovations on the building are finished.
Cartwright -- who was sworn in earlier this month -- has been named to the house's Economic Development Subcommittee, a joint task force on gun violence, and was elected "class president" of this year's freshman congress.
Cartwright, a Democrat, represents the 17th district, which was created in 2011 by redistricting, and is made up of the counties of Northampton, Monroe, Carbon, Schuylkill Luzerne and Lackawanna.
In Northampton County, it includes the Easton area and a portion of the Slate Belt, as well as parts of Bethlehem and Bethlehem Township, Nazareth, Stockertown, Tatamy and Freemansburg.
