Woman Huffed Chemical With Kids in the Car, Police Say

Allentown resident Cheryl Strauch charged with endangering the welfare of children.

Easton police have charged an Allentown woman with endangering children after she was allegedly found passed out after huffing cleaning solution in the parking lot of the downtown McDonald's.

Cheryl Strauch, 32, was arraigned Thursday on charges of endangering the welfare of children, DUI and illegal use of certain solvents and noxious substances.

According to police, officers found Strauch passed out in the driver's seat of her car holding a can of Ultra Duster on the evening of July 21. In the back seat were a 2-year-old girl and a 1-year-old boy. It was not clear why the children had been in Strauch's care, but police said at the time of her arrest that they'd been turned over to their mother.

Strauch was arraigned before senior District Judge Elizabeth Romig Gainer and sent to county prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
