Woman Got High, Passed Out With Kids in the Car, Police Say

Allentown resident Cheryl Strauch charged with endangering the welfare of children.

Easton police say an Allentown woman passed out with two small children in her car after huffing cleaning solution in the parking lot of the downtown McDonald's Sunday evening.

Cheryl Strauch, 32, is charged with endangering the welfare of children, DUI, and illegal use of certain solvents and noxious substances.

According to police, officers found Strauch passed out in the driver's seat of her car holding a can of Ultra Duster just before 8 p.m. In the back seat were a 2-year-old girl and 1-year-old boy.

Police say there was already a warrant for Strauch's arrest, so she was turned over to the Northampton County Sheriff's Department. The children were released to their mother. It was unclear how they were connected to Strauch.
