Wilson Man Admits to One-Hour Burglary Spree

John Paul Fran broke into several Wilson businesses last winter.

A Wilson man has admitted to going on a burglary spree last year in his neighborhood that netted him more than $3,800 in laptops and $1,600 in cash in one hour.

John Paul Fran, 35, pleaded guilty Thursday in Northampton County Court to one count each of burglary and criminal trespass, according to court records. Several other charges against him were withdrawn.

Police say Fran, of 2140 Hay St., broke into five businesses within three blocks of each other on Freemansburg Avenue and Butler Street between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. Jan. 30, 2012.

In addition to the laptops and cash, Fran got away with a $150 cordless phone, a $180 safe and $220 in vehicle titles. The spree caused about $2,200 in damages. Police were able to identify Fran from surveillance video.
