Wilson Clerk Stole From Sewer Fund, Police Say

Wilson police say borough worker Lisa Guth took money residents had paid for hself.

Wilson police say the borough's clerk is under investigation for allegedly stealing money from the community's sewer fund.

Criminal charges are pending against 48-year-old Lisa Guth, police said Thursday.

According to a news release, police began investigating earlier this month when a resident reported a discrepancy with their bill. When police looked closer, they found other billing discrepancies.

Police say they spoke to Guth, of Williams Township, who admitted during an interview to taking money that residents had paid to the borough.

Guth is on administrative leave, and the borough is conducting an audit to see how much money was actually taken.

"As of this time, Wilson Borough is the victim," police said. "There is not any indication that any resident had money stolen from them and their accounts have not been affected."
Police say the Northampton County District Attorney is aware of the investigation.
