Wanted Robber Found at Traffic Stop, Police Say

Davon McDaniels charged with heroin possession, jailed on NJ robbery charge.

A traffic stop Saturday afternoon in Easton led police to arrest a man on heroin charges.

Police also learned that the man they'd arrested was wanted in New Jersey after leaving town on robbery charges.

Davon McDaniels, 21, of Easton, is charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, and giving false identification to law enforcement.

According to court records, police stopped a car McDaniels was riding in on the 1100 block of Northampton Street Saturday after it made a turn without signaling.

The driver told officers there was marijuana and a hypodermic needle in the car. Police say McDaniels gave another name at first, then told officers, "You already got me. My real name is Davon McDaniels."

Court records say a search showed McDaniels was carrying 30 packets of heroin. It was unclear if anyone else in the car had been charged.

Police also learned McDaniels was wanted for a robbery in Essex County, NJ. He was being held in Northampton County Prison pending extradition.
