Waitress Hit With Stray Bullet, Police Say

State police say man shooting at an animal accidentally hit waitress at Riverside Barr and Grille.

State police say a Lower Mount Bethel man shot at an animal causing a "nuisance" on his property, and ended up injuring a waitress at a restaurant just north of Easton.

Daniel Appleby Jr. was charged Tuesday with discharging a weapon in a safety zone, as well as marijuana-related offenses.

According to police, Appleby shot at the animal with a .22-caliber rifle on July 12 at his property on a hill across from the Riverside Barr and Grille on Route 611.

A bullet ricocheted and hit the waitress at the restaurant, striking her lower back and causing a minor injury. Police say they found marijuana plants on Appleby's property.

Appleby was arraigned before District Judge John Capobianco and was free on $7,500 bail.
