Suspect in George Jeter Killing Arrested

Naheem Adams, wanted since July for Easton homicide, being held in Brooklyn.

Easton police say a man wanted in connection with a West Ward homicide has been caught.

Naheem Adams, who was charged in July with the killing of George Jeter, was taken into custody in New York City on Wednesday morning.

According to police, members of the NYPD Fugitive Task Force picked up Adams at his mother's home in Brooklyn around 6 a.m.

Police say Adams is due for arraignment on fugitive charges in New York, and will be extradited back to Easton to face criminal homicide charges.

Jeter, 28, of South 14th Street, was shot to death July 27 on the 1400 block of Butler Street. According to court records, a witness saw Adams -- who goes by the nickname "Dot" -- fleeing the scene.

Another witness saw Adams, 20, in the vicinity of the shooting before Jeter was killed.

Police say they recovered two small caliber shell casings from the scene. An autopsy later found two small caliber bullets inside Jeter's body.

Jeter was Easton's third homicide victim of 2012. In April, a man named Matthew Kelly, a 20-year-old Nazareth native, was shot and killed in the West Ward. His death is still under investigation.

In early July, Easton resident William Thompson, 43, died after being stabbed several times on the 600 block of Ferry Street. Police have , with criminal homicide in Thompson's death.
