State Says $3.5M Meth Ring Included Lehigh Valley

'Operation Blowout' will be announced by state attorney general at a news conference this morning.

State investigators say they've broken a $3.5 million methamphetamine operation that stretched from Philadelphia to the northern tier of Pennsylvania, including the Lehigh Valley.

Investigators with the state attorney general's office were expected to announce details of the ring -- and the 27 arrests they've made -- at a news conference this morning in Philadelphia, the Morning Call reports.

The announcement comes a little more than a month after the attorney general charged six men with operating a $1 million meth operation in Lehigh and Northampton counties.

Patch will have more on today's announcement after the news conference.

I just deleted a comment from someone naming two people who'd "most likely" be arrested in this sweep. (They weren't.) I'd ask readers not to accuse people of crimes here. Thanks.

And if they were part of this drug bust, that would be fine. They're not. If they get arrested again, we'll report on it. But of this case, they're innocent.

@jackson. First of all, this is how you spell S-P-E-E-C-H. Second, freedom of speech does not mean freedom to make accusations of criminal activity against someone without some level of proof. And we're not going to look it up for you. You have an Internet link with real police accusations or a court conviction feel free to post it -- though it is completely irrelevant to this particular story.

Jackson, I'll repeat: "If they were part of this drug bust, that would be fine. They're not. If they get arrested again, we'll report on it. But of this case, they're innocent." And personal attacks on people won't win you any friends here.
