Body Found in Delaware Canal

Easton police are investigating the discovery of a body in the Delaware Canal.

Easton police and the Northampton County Coroner are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in the Delaware Canal Friday afternoon.

According to police, the body was found near the intersection of Route 611 and Nesquehoning Street by hikers around 2:30 p.m.

Police provided no description of the man, other than that he was white. A news release from says investigators do not believe there is any danger to the public.

Police had closed Route 611 between Third and Nesquehoning streets and Nesquehoning Street between Route 611 and Frederick Street, but the streets had reopened by late afternoon.

This is the second body in less than a week. On Sunday, a man was found in the Lehigh River behind Larry Holmes Drive, and later identified as , 34, of the South Side.
