Quadruple Murderer Appeals Conviction in Easton Deaths

A man convicted in one of the most brutal crimes in Easton history says his lawyer at trial was ineffective.

Ali Davis was found guilty four years ago of killing three people in a house on N. 13th Street in November 2007. He also pleaded guilty to killing a fourth person in a separate murder on the city's South Side in May 2007.

According to the Morning Call, Davis was back in Northampton County Court Wednesday, arguing that his lawyer failed to properly explain a plea deal to him at time of his trial in January 2010. That deal, he argued, would have given him 20-40 years in prison. Davis is serving a life term.

First Deputy District Attorney Terrence Houck tells the newspaper that no such deal ever existed.

The deadly shootings on 13th Street took the lives of Alphie Rene, 20, Chanel Armour, 23, and Aleah Hamlin, 19. Prosecutors have described the murders as gang retaliation.

Three other men were also convicted for taking part in the killings: Edward Gray, of East Orange, N.J., who pleaded guilty in 2010, and Olayiwola Hollist and Demar Edwards, who were found guilty after a bench trial in 2011.

Davis also admitted to the shooting death of Joey Mobley on the South Side in May 2007.
