Police: Woman Snatched Purse at Candle Lighting

Police say a woman's purse was stolen, and quickly recovered, during Friday night's candle lighting celebrations.

Easton police say a woman grabbed another woman's purse Friday night during the annual Peace Candle lighting celebration. 

According to police, Cythia Allen, 31, grabbed the woman's purse and ran off with it near N. Bank and Northampton streets around 7:20 p.m.

Police say Allen, who is homeless, ran about half a block before being stopped by officers. In addition to the purse, she was also carrying empty wax heroin packets, police said.

Allen is charged with robbery, theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arraigned before on-duty District Judge John Capobianco and sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
