Police: Purse Snatcher Hid From Cops in the Trash

Phillipsburg resident charged with theft following chase from downtown bar.

Easton police say a Phillipsburg man stole a woman's purse from a downtown bar, and then hid in a trash container after she chased him.

Shawn Quick, 31, of Lewis Street, was charged Wednesday with theft and receiving stolen property.

According to police, Quick stole the purse from a woman at Rivals Sports bar. Officers responded to the bar, but a group of women flagged them down and said the victim had already begun to follow Quick. The woman lost track of him on the 300 block of Spruce Street.
