Police: Men Try to Sell Stolen Goods in Easton

Palmer police say men took TV, Blu-Ray player in burglary.

Palmer Township police have arrested an 18-year-old man charged in a felony burglary of a home on Tuesday morning.

Adam R. LaBarre, who has no known address, allegedly broken into a house at 108 Scotty Drive and, with another man’s help, stole a 46-inch television and a blu ray DVD player, according to court records. The two items together were worth more than $2,000, according to police.

According to the arrest warrant, LaBarre allegedly accompanied Joseph Kowal, 31, to the home where they kicked in the basement door and took the two items between 8:15 and 10:15 a.m.

Kowal lived at that address, with his mother Carol Kowal, until only a few days earlier when she kicked him out because he was “using drugs,” according to the arrest affidavit.

LaBarre was identified as Kowal’s accomplice in the break-in as it was he who fenced the stolen television to the Easton Exchange pawnshop for $150, according to the arrest warrant.

A pawnshop employee told police that two men also tried to sell him the DVD player, but he turned it down because it was missing its remote control.

LaBarre was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief and three counts of criminal conspiracy. He was committed to in lieu of $30,000 bail following his early-morning arraignment Friday in front of District Judge Patricia Romig-Passaro.
