Police: Man Tries to Eat Drugs During Arrest

Easton police say a man being arrest on drug charges tried to flush -- and eat-- the evidence.

Easton police say a man arrested on drug charges Thursday morning tried to eat the evidence.

Anthony Rowe, AKA "A-Rock," was the target of a drug investigation in the 800 block of Walnut Street just after 6 a.m.

Police had an arrest warrant for Rowe, 26, on delivery of heroin charges. According to police, when officers from the vice-narcotics and special response units came to serve the warrant, Rowe tried to run, but also attempted to destroy heroin and marijuana he had with him.

Police say Rowe tried to flush the heroin down the toilet, and eat the marijuana. He also had marijuana hidden in his buttocks. Rowe was taken into custody, and then to the hospital as a precaution for ingesting marijuana. He was treated and released.

Rowe was arraigned late Thursday morning before District Judge Gay Elwell. He is also charged with possession of heroin with the intent to deliver, possession of marijuana, and tampering with evidence.

Rowe -- who wore a t-shirt designed to look like a cardigan sweater, bearing a "Hello I'm Sexy and I Know It" label -- was sent to Northampton County Prison after the judge set bail at $50,000 on each case.

She noted that Rowe had been before her in 2010 on cocaine charges, and had been released on his own recognizance only to fail to show up for court-ordered drug testing.

"I couldn't afford to take the drug test at the time...it wasn't a failure of compliance," Rowe told the judge.

"It was a failure of compliance!" Elwell shot back. "You didn't do it."
