Police: DNA Connects Man to Easton Burglary

DNA found on a rock was used to link a man to a 2011 burglary at the Shammy Shine Car Wash, Easton police say.

On Jan. 4, 2011, a burglary was reported at the Shammy Shine Car Wash in Easton in which the perpetrator broke a window to get in and stole $250, Easton Police said.

Police said they recovered DNA from the rock that was used to break in and connected it to Michael Carthens, who was already in state prison on other charges. Officers arrested Carthens when he arrived at District Court on Wednesday related to another charge.

Carthens was charged with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief and committed to prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
