Police Blotter: Woman Stabbed in Wilson

Also: Palmer man arrested on burglary charges

A Wilson woman was committed to Northampton County Prison on aggravated assault and other charges after allegedly stabbing another woman, late Sunday night in front of her home.

Wanda Rivera suffered stab wounds to her stomach, leg and arm during the fight at 1522 Lehigh St. Naomi Guirales, 21, who lives at that address was charged. Rivera was transported by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital in Fountain Hill, police said.

Guirales told borough police that she used the knife to defend herself from attack by Rivera and two other women who were also at the scene, according to court papers.

Guirales told police that the women came to her house to start a fight and Morales jumped on her and threw her to the ground, according to the arrest affidavit. Guirales, who is 5-foot, 4-inches tall and weighs 98 pounds, told police that this has been an ongoing problem with these women and she has been carrying the knife out of fear for her safety.

Police, who were called to the scene at 10:45 p.m. Sunday, said they found the small black folding knife in Guirales’s home.

Guirales was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and terroristic threats. Her bail was set at $50,000 by District Judge James Narlesky in Bethlehem.

In other news, a Palmer Township man has been jailed on charges of burglary and robbery after he allegedly broke into a Wilson home while the residents slept and, armed with a large butcher’s knife, stole several bottles of prescription medicine, according to court papers.

Devon M. Decker, 19, of 4011 Freemansburg Ave., is the accused and remains in Northampton County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail after his arrest Saturday morning.

Wilson police responded to a call of a burglary in progress at 933 Miller St. at about 7 a.m. Police found Decker only a short distance away walking on the street, though he tried to run away when police approached, according to the arrest affidavit.

When police apprehended Decker, they found three bottles of prescription medication belonging to someone else and six more in the area where he had been walking, according to court papers.

Decker was charged with burglary, robbery, criminal trespass, theft, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest during an arraignment Narlesky.
